Zelma Graduated in 1998 from the honors program of the University of Puerto Rico, with B.A. magnacum laudein political science.
She continued her studies and obtainedher Juris Doctor degree from the University of Puerto Rico in 2001, where she served as editor, and then as Associate of the Editorial Boardof the University of Puerto Rico Law Reviewfrom 1999 to 2001. She was recognized by "Who's Who Among American Law Students", and was winner of the Commercial Law Foundation writing contest at the University of Puerto Rico.
After working in several law firms, since 2004 and up to the present,Zelmaservesas a member and managing partner of Almeida & Davila, PSC a Debt Resolution Law Firm based in San Juan,Puerto Rico. Her practice focuses primarily on commercial and personal bankruptcy, including chapter 7, 11 and 13, and on IRS Tax Resolution for individuals and businesses.
Zelma has over 20 years of experience as a legal counsel and trial attorney representing a multitude of clients in diverse areas of law including: Bankruptcy, Construction, Government Contracting, Collections, Foreclosure, Telecommunications, Employment and Commercial Disputes.
Zelma also serves as a volunteer of Credit Abuse Resistance Education (C.A.R.E.) educating children and adolescents about the use of credit and the management of their personal finances.
She is a member of the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, of the American Bankruptcy Institute.
